Perdita woman: Rachel Pengelly

Biography

Rachel Pengelly was, according to the British Library Catalogue, the "wife of Thomas Pengelly [ob. 6 Jan. 1695/6], Merchant of Leadenhall-street, London". By 1683, her family had taken in Richard Cromwell, ex-Protector of England, as a lodger, who stayed with them until his death. See New ODNB, mention under 'Cromwell, Richard (1626–1712)'.
