Perdita woman: Anne Dunbar Ogilvy, Lady Seafield

Biography

Scots Peerage, iv, 37-9: Anne was the daughter of Sir William Dunbar of Durn (and Janet Brodie, grandchild of Brodie of that Ilk). In 1687 she married James Ogilvy, fourth earl of Findlater, born 11 July 1663. On 24 June 1698 became Viscount Seafield and Lord Ogilvie of Cullen; 24 June 1701 first earl of Seafield, Viscount of Reidhaven, Lord Ogilvy of Deskford and Cullen. They had five children. Acc to Seafield Correspondence from 1685 to 1708, ed. J. Grant (Edinburgh: SHS, 1912), 42, the marriage to James Ogilvy occurred June 1688; she was of a Banffshire family. She died 14 August 1708. Editor surmises consumption (478).
