Of observing dreams [page] 54 [[This is a digression on Genesis 40:5. Halkett comments on the folly of interpreting dreams.]] Of Pharaoh birthday [page] 70 [[This is a reference to Genesis 40:20. After quoting the verse Halkett notes that Joseph was confirmed as an interpreter of dreams on Pharaoh's birthday when he made a feast for his servants. She approves of the custom of kings commemorating their birthdays with feasting and acts of clemency, and states that this verse is an appropriate topic for her meditation today (she writes May 29, 1679 in the margin) since today they celebrate the King's birthday and Restoration over the usurper (Oliver Cromwell) (p. 71).]] The fifth part laid up and applied to the fifth part of 24 hour [page] 111 [[Halkett discusses using a fifth part of the land to preserve the life of the body (see Genesis 41:34), but says that we should use 5 hours of every 24 to preserve the soul with religious duties. That would still leave 7 hours for sleep, 3 for eating and conversation, and 9 for work (p. 112).]] A rich man that died for want [page] 130 [[With reference to Genesis 41:54 which discusses famine, Halkett remembers the case of a man who starved though he had plenty. He lived at Bovington [probably Bovingdon in Hertfordshire, 3 m. Waves commemorated Reuben's sins for posterity to indicate his instability.]] Upon Napthale [page] 479 [[This is really p.480. With reference to Genesis 49:21, Halkett notes that a modern author has written a book entitled Napthale which she has not seen but has heard that it has only the wildness of the hind that Napthale is compared to but no other of its properties, except that it is like a hind that gave birth and then abandoned its calf. This book is probably Naphtali: or, The wrestlings of the Church of Scotland for the kingdom of Christ, by Sir James Stewart and James Stirling, first published in 1667.]] The conclusion of Joseph's trials and triumph applied to myself as a copy for imitation [page] 504 [[This is really p.505.
